Add an Image to WordPress Page or Post

By

This short guide illustrates how to add an image that’s on your computer to a post or page. It does not cover adding an image from a URL, the Gallery, or from the Media Library, but once you’ve done a couple from your computer, you’ll see the process is very similar.

It’s really pretty easy to add images to your WordPress page or post.

  1. Put the cursor in the text area of the post or page, where you’d like the image to appear.
  2. Click on the little icon immediately to the right of the words Upload/Insert.
  3. Insert upload media icon on WordPress page

  4. In the Add an Image screen, use the Select Files button go to the location of the image file you want to upload, select the file, and then click Open.

Select files dialog to add an image

  5. After the file has uploaded
    • Give it a title
    • Add Alternate Text (for screen readers and for SEO purposes)
    • Add a caption, if desired
    • Add a brief description (SEO)
    • Pick the alignment
    • Pick the size
  6. Click Insert into Post / Page

That’s all there is to it.

  1. Most small businesses these days need to keep educating themselves about the latest trends etc… though I don’t agree that social media is for every business.
